I wanted to capture Eritrean and Ethiopian Orthodox Easter as this was a big holiday for me growing up. Prior to Easter, we take part in Tsom Arba, which translates to 40 Days of Lent. During this time, we abstain from animal products (dairy, meat, eggs) and practice a vegan diet. On Orthodox Easter Sunday, we break our fast at the church.
This holiday and tradition continue to be part of my life as I grow up. This is a big part of my life I never saw represented in the media and this year, I wanted to take the time to capture and share it.
